Australian Association of Financial Advisers The Association of Financial Advisers is a professional organisation established by and for career financial advisers. Its goals are to improve ethical standards of financial advisers, to improve education standards, represent views and interests, and to co-operate with the life insurance and financial services industry. The association is the only voice at government tables ensuring that legislation and policy reflect the unique position of our members. The Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner (FChFP) designation has been adopted as a common professional designation by the 11 professional member associations of APLIC being Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand in May 2001. The objective is to offer recognition and certification of employment to skilled professionals in the insurance and financial industry across the Asia Pacific region. The designation replaces the Certified Financial Adviser Australia, which
was brought in after the AFA failed to register the Chartered Financial
Planner designation in 2002 because the Financial Planning Association
claimed it was too similar to its own Certified Financial Planner mark.
